Zambezi Expeditions Camp
Overview
Zambezi Expeditions is a seasonal luxury camp set right on the banks of the Zambezi River in Mana Pools National Park. With only six classic Meru-style tents hosting a maximum of twelve guests, it is a small, focused place. Instead of permanent concrete structures, you get a classic canvas safari. The tents have large mesh windows that let in the river breeze and the sounds of the night, along with comfortable beds and private en-suite bathrooms. The showers are traditional hot-water bucket showers, filled on your request. The main gathering point is the shared mess tent and the open-air fire circle right on the riverbank. This is where you sit to watch elephants walk through the shady albida trees and hippos move through the channels. There is also a small plunge pool to cool off during the heat of the day. The focus here is entirely on the river and the floodplains, led by some of the most experienced walking guides in Africa. Mana Pools is famous for its walking safaris, which can sound intimidating if you have never been on one. But walking here with a licensed professional guide is a quiet, steady experience. You might track wild dogs on foot, paddle past elephants on a guided canoe trip, or just spend a quiet afternoon fishing for tigerfish from the bank. It is a raw, beautiful corner of Zimbabwe, but you are looked after at every step.
